The last 4 weeks seemed to have been all about skin health and skin care: I spent a total of 5 days attending skin related training. The highlight was a two day small group training with Dr Zein Obagi. Yes, the Dr Obagi, the man behind the famous blue peel.

Dr Obagi has since started a new range of skin care products, marketed as ZO Medical and ZO Skin Health, providing a seamless system that is suitable for normal, healthy skin to problematic skin (e.g. Acne, Rosacea) and can be used by teenagers and older adults alike.

The most invaluable aspect of the training was not the specifics about the products but the principles behind Dr Obagi’s approach to assessment and treatment of skin condition and his convictions about the importance of restoring skin health as the cornerstone of any skin treatment. I have been sold on the idea of skin health for a while and it is really good to have that fleshed out in practical steps.

We are currently working out the details of incorporating the ZO skin health principles and products into our practice and I believe that they will complement our existing skin treatments and laser therapies quite perfectly.

Mrs CC Kat is a leading Midlands Consultant Plastic Surgeon specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
