A look back at 2013
I am so proud of the team as they have survived my relentless drive to increase and improve the services that we are providing.
One of the major changes this year has beenthe minor operating theatre. The number of local anaesthetic procedures we carry out at the clinic have doubled and this now includes :
- mole and tattoo removal
- scar revisions
- mini-facelifts and blepharoplasties
- standard and VASER liposuction
- fat injections
- hair transplant
We have also acquired another laser – the Vbeam ( pulse dye laser). This together with our CO2 laser and Soprano laser allows us to complete your rejuvenation by making your skin smoother, less pigmented, less red and less hairy.
For those that are not keen or not suitable for skin rejuvenation using anti wrinkle injections or fillers, we have introduced PRP(platelet rich plasma) or the Dracula treatment. This is also ideal for treating the very sensitive eyelid and decolletage areas.
The big buzz word for the past year has been microdermabrasion. This consistently topped the list for non-invasive facial treatments. Guess what? We listened to the experts, carried out our own trials and now have what we believe is the best system in the market – the Hydrafacial MD. As a monthly treatment, it is a great addition to your skin care routine.
We have also introduced a major campaign to encourage patients to invest in scientifically proven skin care – Environ and Obagi. This not only delays the aging process but also maintains the results of treatments. Patients are listening because the products are flying off the shelves and the feedback has been consistently excellent.
It has also been a great year for 3 of our surgical treatments – the ‘lock and glue’ tummy tuck, the ‘one-stitch’ facelift and VASER liposuction as they have received extensive media coverage.
And finally, it was an honour to be listed as one of the top cosmetic surgeons in the UK by Dr Mark Porter in The Times papers. Even more exciting was the fact that we were nominated for Best Aesthetic Clinic, Best Aesthetic Nurse (Natasha Rankin) and Best Website by the UK National Aesthetic Awards.
What’s new in 2014
We have a new skin therapist starting in the New Year – Kelly Umbers. From touring as a dancer with the world famous ‘Lord of the Dance’, Kelly now brings the same dedication and committment to her role as a skin therapist at the clinic. Kelly has a wealth of experience with the Environ range of skin care products and will be reviving the Environ ionzyme facials.
As the clinic continues to expand, Dr H Kat, our Practice Manager who is also our main Laser Specialist, will be seeking a deputy to help him in the management role. This is so that we can continue to provide a truly first class service for all our patients from that initial contact, right through to consultation, treatment and follow-up. it is our aim to try and develop an ongoing long term partnership with you.
Dr Zein Obagi is well known for his Obagi Nuderm range of products and the Obagi Blue peel which primarily addresses pigmentation problems. He has now launched a new range, the Obagi ZO products, to address the needs of everyday skin care. The feedback has been excellent so Dr H Kat and myself are taking ourselves off to Beverly Hills,Los Angeles in February of the New Year to visit his clinic to obtain first hand knowledge and experience of his products. We hope to introduce this range in the clinic to complement the Environ products.
We will be upgrading our skin analysis system to provide a wider range of data that can be captured about your skin – wrinkles, pigmentation, thread-veins/telangiectasia, pore size etc. This will provide you with better objecive evidence of the effectiveness of the various treatments you undergo.
We have signed up for the production of 7 short video clips of the most popular treatments at the clinic. This will be helpful for your education and hopefully help you in your choice of treatments.
The website is heading for a facelift. There will be more information, easier navigation and more video clips. It will also be mobile device friendly.
As you can see, the emphasis in 2014 is going to be skincare, skincare and more skincare.
Final Word
None of the above would mean anything if we were not successful in helping many of you achieve your goals or desires. if we have not, I would like to reassure you that it is not for lack of trying. It is fitting for me to end this message by sharing with you something I received in the post today, New Year’s Eve, all the way from France. Reading it has made my year that much closer to being perfect.
