Liposuction, or Vaser Liposuction can be especially effective when there are areas of localised fatty deposits in your body that are resistant to diet and exercise. It can be used to create a more proportional and pleasing body shape. The following are useful guidelines:
- Your weight is consistent and does not fluctuate much
- Your cholesterol levels and blood pressure are normal
- You exercise regularly, eat healthily and have a good BMI (Body Mass Index should be close to 25 which is the upper limit for healthy)
However, there are many types of Liposuction. To help you understand which procedure is best for you, we’ve compared the pros & cons of traditional liposuction and vaser lipo:
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction, also known as liposculpture or suction assisted lipectomy, is a technique to remove unwanted fat deposits. It can also be used to contour your body and highlight existing muscle tone in addition to its ability to remove unwanted fat.
Liposuction can be performed on numerous different areas including, but not limited to:
- Hips
- Neck
- Arms
- Tummy
- Loins
- Thighs
- Knees and ankles
- Lipomas (Benign fat tumours)
- Gynaecomastia (Male Breast Reduction)
Vaser Lipo vs. Traditional Lipo
Vaser Liposuction and Traditional Liposuction are both accepted by plastic surgeons as effective treatments. The most important considerations when deciding between the two are:
- Your own aesthetic goals
- The amount of fat you want to be removed
- Your medical history, BMI and your preferences for anaesthesia
An alternative to the harsh techniques of traditional liposuction, VASER Lipo uses state-of-the-art ultrasound technology designed to gently reshape your body. What distinguishes the VASER Lipo procedure is its ability to differentiate fatty tissue from other important tissue structures – such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue.
Innovative VASER technology breaks up fat while preserving other important tissues to promote smooth results and rapid healing. It is ideal for Twilight Anaesthesia. Patients unsuitable for traditional liposuction because of poor skin elasticity may be suitable for VASER Lipo because of an increased skin retraction.
