Dear all,

As of Tuesday 22/9/15, the manufacturers of Silimed implants have informed us that there is to be a temporary suspension of the Silimed breast implants in the UK. The implants continue to be used in the USA and other parts of the world.

As part of a routine audit of the manufacturing process, the manufacturers have identified particles in the silicone gel. There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that this may pose any risk to patients. 

The regulatory body in America (FDA) and elsewhere in the world have looked into this and have not taken any further action. The regulatory body in Europe have decided to temporarily suspend the use of the implants pending their own investigation
