Facial rejuvenation using V-Beam pulse dye laser

Like many significant medical findings, the skin rejuvenation ability of the VBeam laser was an incidental finding: clinicians observed in a series of patients being treated for vascular lesions with the VBeam that they had smoother skin over areas treated.

Although the VBeam pulsed dye laser is primarily designed to treat vascular and pigmented lesions (such as “broken” veins, rosacea, age/sun spots), it has a long list of other applications, including acne, psoriasis, warts and, the topic of this blog, skin rejuvenation.

Using a treatment protocol involving monthly treatments, we have found the VBeam to be an effective tool for skin rejuvenation. Unlike the CO2 laser, the VBeam is non-ablative i.e. It doesn’t break the skin and hence incurs less discomfort and down time.

I believe that the improvements in complexion is achieved through two mechanism: a reduction in redness lead to a more even tone and the stimulation of collagen remodelling in the deeper layer of the skin.

These photographs are of a patient in the middle of her 6 monthly treatment package. We anticipate further improvements.

As with all facial rejuvenative treatments, maintenance of skin health incorporating sun care and the correct skin care regime is of paramount importance and emphasised upon from the start. We also make it our duty to harangue patients to quit smoking where necessary.
