As a Plastic Surgeon, my roots and passion will always be in the grit and gore of surgery. However, the seeds of an idea for a non-surgical aesthetic clinic was planted in 2008 when I realised that my surgical results could be improved with the right non-surgical adjuncts. I also realised that there was a large group of patients who would not cross that threshold into hospital based surgery but would be quite happy to have non-surgical or minimally invasive treatments in a clinic setting.
The idea began to take shape when we bought our very first laser machine in Dec 2009 – the Smartxide fractional CO2 laser. To date, this remains our best investment as it continues to smooth, brighten and tighten skin in the face, neck and hands. Together with anti- wrikle injections and filler injections, this made up our holy trinity of treatments that gradually built up our patient base.
To help maintain the results, we introduced the Environ and Obagi range of skin care products as well as the Jane Iredale mineral makeup range. This was after much research to look beyond the marketing and packaging of the numerous products in the market but to concentrate on the science behind the products. These products were chosen for their versatility as an excellent post surgery/treatment adjunct as well as for everyday use.
A year later, in Dec 2010, we purchased our second laser, the award winning Soprano pain free hair removal and NIR skin tightening laser,to meet the growing demands for body aesthetics. We were delighted when this won the ‘Treatment of the Year’ at the UK’s National Aesthetic Awards 2011. This contributed to the clinic’s continued growth.
The beginning of 2012 saw the dawn of an increasing number of local anaesthetic surgeries I was performing at the clinic. This included the famously popular ‘one-stitch face lift’ and upper eyelid reduction. A combination of the ‘one-stitch face lift’, anti- wrikle injections and midface volumlift with Radiesse filler has allowed me to achieve a truly effective ‘non-surgical’ lift of the face.
As of July, we now have a full time Skin and Beauty Therapist, Lucy Billane who is passionate about the Environ range of products. Under Lucy, we will be expanding our range of skin and beauty treatments including skin analysis, Environ facials, therapeutic massages, cellulite treatments and manicures/pedicures. Lucy will be holding a make-up class using the Jane Iredale Makeup range in September. Come and meet her.
From mid-August, our Aesthetic Doctor and Practice Manager, Dr H Kat, will be converting from part time to full time at the clinic. As our laser specialist, he will continue to expand our armamentarium of lasers to meet the various needs and I know he has plans to trial the Zerona laser, the only FDA approved fully non-invasive laser for the reduction of arms, waist , hips and thighs. If you are interested in taking part, email us and we will send you the details
Natasha Rannkin, our Aesthetic Nurse Specialist who is also now full time at the clinic, will be adding on Platelet-Rich-Plasma treatments(vampire lift) to her micro-needling. This has an exciting range of applications for facial rejuvenation, scar and stretchmarks improvement and baldness. The laser hair removal continues to keep her busy, busy, busy.
As for myself, I am now able to fulfull a long time wish – to carry out more local anaesthetic procedures in our clinic. This will allow me to introduce a new group of procedures which are less invasive, has less downtime and most mportantly cost effective. These procedures include :
1 the already established one stitch facelift
2 fat transfer
3 VASER ultrasonic laser liposuction
So, I am delighted to say, 2 and a half years on, we have outgrown our clinic. We will be adding on 4 more rooms – a larger purpose built minor operating theatre, a dedicated laser room, a skin and beauty treatment room with the required muted lighting and mood music and a more private patient preparation and recovery area.
I am hoping the new rooms will be ready late September. It is a very hectic time for me personally but exciting as I continue to realise my vision of that one stop clinic – a place where people can come to for their advice and treatments knowing that they are in safe hands. I want to thank all our beautiful patients for their continued support over the past years and we will continue to be there for you in your strife
‘for a life more beautiful’
